Newsroom Manager - Global Video News Agency

Who we are looking for

An experienced newsroom manager who can direct a fast growing, soup-to-nuts operation that gathers, composes and distributes one-minute video, audio and text reports from around the world. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about, among other things, digital media, social media, fair use, copyright law and workplace laws. The most important part of the job is to ensure that the vision of the company — honest, factual, accurate, fair, professional reports for a worldwide audience — is carried out fully.


  • Significant experience in managing large newsrooms that incorporate video news.
  • Ability to hire, train, oversee, reward and discipline a newsroom staff that will grow from a handful of people to several hundred over a 24-month period.
  • Ability to hire, promote and groom talented candidates for mid-level management positions.
  • General knowledge of assigning, script writing, fact-checking, copy editing, on-camera news reading, video editing and news writing for websites.
  • Knowledge of international news preferred, particularly in Southeast, East and South Asia.
  • Ability to keep an eye on the big picture while also attending to details such as personnel issues, equipment purchase and repair, and employee scheduling.
  • Ability to stay calm and communicate clearly under pressure.
  • Be creative with a positive attitude and a motivated team player.


The newsroom manager’s starting salary range is $60,000 to $70,000, depending on experience and other factors.
